Learning Challenge

For this learning challenge I am going to do the happiness jar. Instead of actually having a jar or keeping a list on my phone, I am going to post a video  to my snapchat story every day for a week so other people can not only see what I am doing but also maybe get inspired by it. I will post again next week and see if I had any responses and how I feel after it is all said and done.

Tech Tip

I chose to go follow some football twitter accounts in light of the big 12 championship. I followed Oklahoma Football and Sooner Sports. Both accounts seem to have quality information and interesting posts.

Growth Mindset

The first cat that stuck out to me was this one because I feel like you cannot chose the hand that you are dealt but you choose what to do with that hand and that is so powerful. Do not sit idle because you are mad at what you have in your life.

The second one that stood out to me was the one below because it fits me very well. I make a lot of mistakes and so for me I try to learn from them as best as I can. If you aren't learning from them then you will never improve.

Wikipedia Trail From Alice and Wonderland to ESPN

I started learning about Alice and Wonderland and how it is a fantasy novel written back in the 1800's. Then I went on to research the White Rabbit from the book and movie. He is frequent all through out the book from start through the end. Then I went on to Disney where it talked about the different parks and movies that it has done in its time. Lastly I ended on ESPN which is a sports network that includes all sports and is the leading sports announcers in the industry.

I really enjoyed the growth mindset for today. I think that sometimes we forget that we need to make the move in order to help ourselves grow as people.

Famous Last Words

I am going to take this week and reflect on how much I have gotten done in this class the last few weeks. With working and taking eighteen credits I have been a little behind in a couple of my classes and I am glad that I am able to finish this class with a decent grade. I am trying to finish up the class as quickly as possible and I feel like I am doing a decent job for as busy as my schedule is. I feel like especially these last couple weeks have been able to improve on my writing skills, as well as my commenting skills. I am excited to finish up the class here in these last few days and finish my last semester. Even though I am cutting it close I am so happy to finally graduate and say that I have a bachelors degree. This degree has taken longer then normal and it has had lots of almost giving ups to get here. I can’t believe it is finally here. I am so excited and thankful for everyone that has helped me get to where I am today. This class taught me how to step out of my comfort zone and how to be a more useful commenter on others writing. I am so glad that this chapter in my life is finished and I am now able to be stress free when it comes to school and now I can focus on working and being what I need to be. Thank you for teaching me as much as you did not only in this class, but also in general about life. I Feel like a genuinely got a good idea of others culture and I appreciate that. Thank you again, and hopefully I will continue to write creatively even after school is done.

Week 14: Story Planning: Modern Day Cinderella

For this assignment, I plan on doing a story planning post about Cinder-maid, which I read this week. I think that by adding a modern twist it would make the story relatable and more interesting. We hear about child abuse cases but never realize that that is what is happening in Cinderella/Cinder-maid. I want to make it to where she is being held hostage and to where the Prince not only saves her, but also gets the mother and her daughters and the father put in jail for child neglect. I think that this would be a great idea and would help also get the word and information out on child abuse. Everything will be modern and the person helping her go to the ball will also be a person who helps get her out of her horrible situation. By changing this plot I feel like it will change from a love story and will have a more serious tone towards it. The Prince will probably be changed to some higher up, whether that is an actor, business owner, or maybe even a politician. I am excited to be able to write about something that I am passionate about but in a very creative way. With this story, I will also probably provide some helpful links so that anyone experiencing or that knows someone that is experiencing similar situations can get more information on how to change their path. I am so excited to write about this and hope that it turns out how I am picturing it. I also read some more information on the Cinder-maid story so that I could bring in all the details of the original story that I can. There was a deer hunter who loved hunting deer.

He heard a loud sound that sounded like wings from a bird.

He was going to shoot it but it was seven maidens.

He stole one of their beautiful robes.

They spoke to the man and told him his fate will be.

Then they flew far away.

He said he would give it back if she married him.

They had kids.

One day her daughter was playing hide and seek and found the robe.

The mother ran away for good.

He went to go find her but no one knew where she went.

Reading A:

·         There was a king long ago who had a son that was becoming of age.

·         His father hosted a ball in which his son would choose who he wants to marry out of all the girls in town.

·         There was a man who married a woman with two kids.

·         She only cared about her two kids and not the man’s daughter who was named cinder-maid.

·         The daughter was told to do all the housework and duties.

·         When the king announced the ball the girls were so excited, but they weren’t going to let the cinder-maid go.

·         She helped the other two get ready and then she sat and cried out by her mother’s grave.

·         A dress appeared and she was able to go to the ball.

·         The prince instantly fell in love and ignored all the other girls.

·         Once midnight hit she had to go home and ran far away.

·         The prince’s soldiers tried following but couldn’t find her in the mist.

·         The sisters came home and were so mad that this girl stole the spotlight.

·         There was a second ball and everything was the same.

·         This time the prince told the guards to put honey on the stair so her shoes would stick to it.
