  • ·         Women walked up, she was from the olden days, buffalo robe with necklace and beads all over.
  • ·         She lifted his foot several times and on the third time, she grabbed a knife to cut it off.
  • ·         He awoke and shot at her and she ran away.
  • ·         Next night he heard someone singing and so he called out to him.
  • ·         The singer asked for food and even though he had a small amount he said he did not have any. The singer called him out and made it known that he knew he had some.
  • ·         The man gave him some.
  • ·         Later he noticed the singer was bones only. There was no flesh.
  • ·         The singer was a ghost.
  • ·         The ghost had his smoke go through his ribs and bones and not through his mouth.
  • ·         The ghost offered to wrestle him.
  • ·         The man made the fire bigger and noticed the ghost got weaker the closer to the fire he got, while the ghost got stronger the farther into the dark he got.
  • ·         The man was able to push some more brush and make the fire bigger which cause the ghost to fall.
  • ·         He ended up winning and receiving the reward the ghost said.
  • ·         Now everyone listens to ghosts because of this.

Reading Options

Bible Women:
  • ·         Hebrew bible and new Testament.
  • ·         Anywhere from well-known to uncommon stories.
  • ·         King James version language
  • ·         Other options Folklore of the Holy Land unit.
  • ·         I think I would enjoy this because I grew up as a pastor’s kid and was very active in the church scene.

  • ·         Published in 1890
  • ·         Was followed by a second book in 1894.
  • ·         Native to England and Scotland.
  • ·         Similar to known fairytales here in America.
  • ·         I think that every little girl loves fairy tales and so when I saw this option I couldn’t help but check it out.

  • ·         You go through his lifetime and the start of his outlaw career.
  • ·         Bow hunter and trickster.
  • ·         Marry men are in this version.

Time Strategies

I plan on using the class calendar for managing my time and to stay on top of everything due. I read the two articles, "The Psychology of Checklists" and "How to Beat Procrastination". Both articles had a lot of useful information. I have trued lists and tend to be good at it when I stay on top of it. I didn't realize that checklists were so important and useful. The second article was useful for a lot of reasons, but one that stood out was the idea of visualizing it being done. That is what I keep thinking about graduating in December. I am excited to implement some of these strategies throughout this semester.

Technology

Most of these technology resources I used when I was in the other class about a year ago. I enjoyed using different  websites and exploring new things. I have now used a couple of these sites for other classes here at OU. I am excited to get better at them and even use some new ones.

Class Assignments

I am really excited about the creativity that this class allows. I am interested in the storybooks we will be doing this semester. I did one last year and I am excited to change up my theme and be creative. I also love the freedom of the class. There is plenty of room for extra credit and creativity throughout the assignments.

Growth Mindset: Week 1

Growth mindset was something that I had not heard of before the first class I took of yours. I remember doing some of the assignments last Fall and enjoyed learning about it. I think the one thing that stuck out to me most was the statement, "Make challenge the new comfort one." That explained it all and showed me that we need to have a mindset where growth is not a scary idea or something to be scared of. The more we allow our minds to grow, the more we chose to learn and live. Remembering back to the semester I took this class I think growth mindset was my favorite topic to explore and learn about. I did a lot towards the end of the semester and it really helped me. hopefully this semester I can learn and grow even more.

Introduction to Me

Hello!

My name is Asaleigh but most of my friends and family call me Ace. I'll respond to either so feel free to chose either one. I grew up in Bend Oregon and moved here for school. I miss home sometimes but enjoy the experience I am gaining by being in Oklahoma. To switch it up I thought I would give a couple fun facts for my introduction.

One is that I am fluent in American Sign Language. I started my freshman year in high school and have continued learning and using it through today. I plan on getting my interpreting license after graduating in December from the College of Arts and Sciences here at OU. I enjoy it more than any other hobby I have and plan on improving this skill for the rest of my life. I am also currently in a sign language class so I can stay on top of my skills.

Another cool fact is that I recently got another puppy. He is a black lab and is now 10 months old. I also have an almost 2-year-old girl who is Husky and Blue Heeler mix. They keep me busy and on my toes at all times. Her name in Lucca and is the sweetest little thing you will ever meet and his name is Gunner and he is a clumsy little guy. I say little but he is really already over 100 pounds. I will try and keep updates on them throughout the semester.

Hope you enjoyed a few fun facts and can not wait to learn more about all of you. I am excited to experience this class and the new idea of blogging. If you want to know more feel free to ask! I am an open book and will attempt to answer everything.

Storybook Favorites

Grey' Anatomy Storybook:

I think this one was the most interesting to me because I have seen the shows and felt like the author did an amazing job with bringing the stories to the plot of the show. I liked how there were different stories that were real life myths that they brought to real life. The only change I would have made was to add a few more and to also bring in the other characters a little more. I think overall this was a great topic that really drew me in. I am thinking of ways I can play off of this storybook for my own.

The Tale of Seven Pilgrim's Storybook:

I thought this storybook was interesting because it had so much detail and thought put into it. I think that the profiles and the interviews were clever and really helped the reader get an understanding of what was happening. One thing I didn't understand was the fact that the time of the Pilgrims was way before any CSI type program and all the technology being used was not around back then. Other than that I think they had a clever idea with a great story line!

Death's Story:

I think this one had such a unique idea that drew me in from the beginning. I think that the concept of death being a person and taking over for another person was interesting. I also really liked how the writer brought in a character that most people knew, Sinbad. It was a very interesting plot that I think could go many different directions. Overall a great job!

Favorite Place

My Favorite place in the world is the place that I grew up. Bend, Oregon is a small town right in the middle of the state. It is a town based on outdoor activities and has a wide variety of weather throughout the year. We get four clear seasons with amazing winters for snow activities and a warm summer for long nights on the lake. I would love to live here again someday after I experience a little more of the world.
