Reading Notes A: Bengal: The Evil Eye of Sani

Reading A:

·         The god of bad and good luck fell out of heaven together.
·         They were fighting over who was higher and because they were on the equal ground the gods decided to let humans decide.
·         Wise and rich man named Sribatsa.
·         They wanted to go to him to decide who was higher.
·         He didn’t want to choose because one would have a grudge against him.
·         He got a gold and silver stool made and told them to sit on it.
·         He chose the good luck to sit on the gold stool and so the other was mad.
·         He tried to run away from his wife so she wouldn’t get the bad luck either but she followed him.
·         They ran and put their money in the mattress and carried the mattress on their journey.
·         They tried crossing a river and the water pushed the mattress and consumed it.
·         They went into a town to make money and found some woodcutters.
·         They were cutting good trees and getting a lot of money for it.
·         The other woodcutters planned on a plot out of jealousy.
·         The same thing happened with the weavers.
·         People caught his wife and captured her.
·         He then followed the stream to try and find her.
·         He found a cow he milked and then he realized it pooped gold.
·         She was beautiful but prayed to be ugly and so it was granted.
·         She was thrown to the cargo room.
·         He floated until he got to a garden.
·         The king saw that the garden became flourished with plants and so they rescued his wife and she became beautiful again.

·         The king gave him everything and he was good again
